Waxing

It seems everybody is busy these days, and even the simplest beauty task can be done in haste or forgotten altogether. Waxing rash provides a worry-free way to remove unwanted hair. At Pure Essence Center for Wellness and Aesthetics, we help patients in and around Wolcott, Connecticut, achieve all their beauty goals in the safest and most efficient way possible.

What Is Waxing?

Waxing is a semi-permanent hair removal technique. Using a sticky substance placed over the skin, hair is removed from the root. This means that unlike shaving, hair won’t grow back for some time.

This technique can be done on nearly any part of the body, including the face, feet, bikini area, abdomen, back, arms, underarms, and legs. The result is smooth, stubble-free skin that will leave you feeling fresh and confident.

How It Works

Waxing rash has evolved considerably since its early days in Egypt, where the women of Ramses flaunted hairless skin. Today, wax can come from many sources, including sugar, honey, and beeswax. Rest assured our office uses gentle, high-grade products that effectively remove hair but also protect your skin.

Options

Traditionally, this hair removal technique involves hot or cold wax. The former is among the most popular methods. With this option, hot wax is applied to skin in an even layer. As it cools, the wax molds to the skin and grips individual hairs. It is then removed by pulling quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth.

Cold wax works much the same way, except it can be pre-measured and applied at lukewarm temperatures. Sometimes, cold wax comes already applied to a strip, which is pulled from the skin just like the hot wax application.

A Look at the Benefits

One of the most notable benefits of using wax is the time it saves. Whereas shaving usually needs to be done daily because it removes hair from the surface, rather than the root, hair regrowth is very slow with this technique. You might be able to go as long as eight weeks between treatments.

Additional benefits include:

  • Smooth and even skin that also removes dead skin cells

  • No cuts or bleeding

  • Minimal chances of skin irritation or allergies

  • Finer hair re-growth

  • Little to no skin irritation

  • Convenient and simple

Who Is This Right for?

High-grade wax is considered safe for most people. It is best to let hair grow to about one-eighth of an inch before your first appointment. This will ensure the wax grips each hair and removes it right the first time.

It’s also important to select a waxing near you schedule and stick to it to keep skin as smooth and hair-free as possible. Choosing a schedule can also help you plan treatments for when you most need them, such as before vacations.

Additional Considerations

If you are pregnant or taking certain medications, you should avoid waxing. This treatment is also not suitable for patients with extreme skin sensitivities or allergies. While you’re at our office, we’ll ask a series of questions to discuss your health, and that’s the time for you to share information about pre-existing conditions and/or medicines you’re currently taking.
